Our favorite way to watch a movie isn’t a theater — it’s the Silver Moon Drive-In in Lakeland, and after this last visit I need everyone to know about it.
Here’s how it works: two screens, two movies on each screen every night, starting at 8:45 (they have to wait for dark — it’s a drive-in!). You tune your car radio to 88.3 and settle in. Between features there’s an intermission that plays vintage commercials, which is honestly one of my favorite parts — it feels like time travel.
The insider move: go on a Thursday. It’s $5 movie night AND the quietest night of the week, so you get the best deal and the most space. Ticket prices and snack prices here beat anywhere else around — we grabbed the large popcorn, which comes with a free refill you can even save for another visit.
This time we caught The Mandalorian and Grogu under an actual full moon, which felt appropriately on-theme. Two movies, snacks, and a night under the stars for less than one ticket costs most places.
If you’ve never done a drive-in with your family, this is the one to start with.
